The Movement
Many years ago, I had a simple idea: What if I could help reduce craziness on the road, even in the smallest way?
Like many people, I've experienced the frustrations that come with driving. You're sitting at a red light, it turns green, and within a second someone is honking impatiently behind you. It may seem small, but moments like that can quickly create stress, tension, and even the dreaded road rage.
As a mom, I've always felt the need to resolve problems — although sometimes the best thing a mom can do is simply listen and stop trying to fix everything. But in this case, I went straight into “resolution mode.” I believed there had to be a better way.
That's when I came up with the idea of inventing a second car horn — one installed alongside the regular emergency horn, but with a friendlier beep. A horn that simply meant, “Hey, the light changed.” I imagined calling it Love on the Road.
At the time, I was convinced this invention was going to make a fortune. But between patents, copyrights, lawyers, endless complications, costs, working with car manufacturers, and working full time, the idea, along with the invention and the fortune, faded away.
Fast forward: while the horn idea may have disappeared, the heart behind Love on the Road never did. It was simply waiting for something to become bigger.
During this time, my son Brad and I often found ourselves talking about the state of the world and the growing sense of division, frustration, and helplessness that so many people seem to be carrying. Instead of adding to the negativity through complaints or social media arguments, we wanted to become part of something different.
We realized that real change doesn't always come from big gestures or politics, it starts close to home, in our own communities and in the simple choices we make every day: how we speak to one another, how patient we choose to be, and how willing we are to extend kindness.
As I began researching the effects of kindness, I discovered something powerful: kindness isn't just “nice”, it's actually good for your health. It lowers stress, improves mood, creates connection, and even benefits the heart.
That belief is what brought Love on the Roadback to life — not as an invention, but as a movement.

A Wave That Changed Everything
— Sarah M.
“I was stuck in peak-hour traffic feeling invisible. A driver ahead had a Love on the Road sticker. When the lights changed, they turned and waved — not to anyone in particular, just out into the world. I burst into tears. I needed that more than I knew.”
— Sarah M.
A Beautiful Story
— Jacquie
“While at a café, the cashier effusively complimented my earrings. They were not expensive and could be replaced, so I took them off and gave them to her. She was overjoyed and we both felt great. But what made it even more wonderful is that the two women behind me told me she had tears in her eyes after seeing that kindness.”
— Jacquie
The Umbrella
— David K.
“It was pouring and I had one umbrella. A woman at the bus stop was drenched and shivering. I handed her mine and said keep it. She looked at me like I'd handed her the world. I walked to my car soaking wet and smiling the whole way.”
— David K.
The Beginning of Love on the Road
— Rhonda
“Then I started researching the effects of kindness and discovered something powerful: kindness isn't just nice — it's actually good for your health. It lowers stress, improves mood, creates connections and even benefits the heart. That was the beginning of Love on the Road.”
— Rhonda
Coffee for a Stranger
— Priya T.
“I overheard a young man at the counter quietly asking the barista if they did any cheaper options — his card had declined. I stepped forward and told her to add his order to mine. He didn't say much, just nodded. But his eyes said everything.”
— Priya T.
The Note on the Windshield
— Marcus L.
“I found a note on my car after a hard day: 'You parked really considerately today — thank you. Hope your day is as kind as you are.' I still have it in my wallet. A stranger took thirty seconds to make me feel seen.”
— Marcus L.
